We continued the fun by doing some silly Sun Salutations and talking about how when the sun travels around the earth in 365 days that's a year and we celebrate our birthdays every 365 days too! We then moved on to making a birthday cake with our bodies. We mixed the cake, placed it in the oven, baked it, decorated with frosting and sprinkles and then we sliced the cake and each pretended to have a piece. We used lots of yoga poses and our imaginations! We used our breath to play some pranayama games and got our groove on playing freeze dance with yoga poses.
Each girl got the chance to decorate her own eye pillow to use during our birthday cake relaxation. I brought small, white crew socks and fabric markers and the girls went to town! I asked them to draw and/or write things that made them feel calm, relaxed and happy on their eye pillows. The girls then added some essential oils to some white rice and placed it in their eye pillow and sealed up the end.
During our birthday cake relaxation each girl got to use her newly created eye pillow and I guided them through a birthday cake relaxation while the birthday girl gave each girl a grounding touch on the forehead. We then sat around in a circle and each guest had a chance to ring the sining bowl and say something nice about our birthday girl. I was so surprised with how thoughtful, kind and sincere the girls' comments were about their friend. ALl of the adults ( and I) had little tears in our eyes. It was such a lovely reminder of how pure and innocent children are.
It was such a fun day for everyone! Email me to book a birthday party or to share ideas for more fun birthday party themes!!
