In August of 2014 I traveled to Tuscany, Italy on an amazing journey to live and learn with 29 other yoga-loving humans from all over the globe. We stayed on a gorgeous farm, ate all of our meals al fresco and learned so much about yoga, community and ourselves.
My month in Italy was not an easy one. While I enjoyed my time immensely - I left the states with a lot of loose ends and uncertainty concerning a relationship that just wasn't feeling right, but one that I wanted to work so badly. I was in love, but it was one-sided. I left the states not knowing where we stood or what I was going to come back to in September when I returned. It was agonizing.
During the last week of our training we wrote a letter to ourselves three months into the future. Sora, our guide for this activity, encouraged us to think about what we wanted to feel, what our lives would look like, and what we wanted to have accomplished by that date. I did not include my manifesto in it's entirety (below) as some of the items were very personal, but I do encourage you to write your own manifesto every three months and use it as a guide to help you create the life you desire. Cheers, MJ
P.S. If you would like to find out more about Sora, writing your manifesto or connect with her about the awesome work she is doing with the "magic of circle" check out www.sorasuryano.com.

Dear Meghan, 11/24/2014
I can’t believe it’s already November 24, 2014! I’m feeling so proud of all the work I have done to create my yoga in the classroom lessons, curriculum and teacher training workshops. I feel so so much joy for being able to share yoga and passion with teachers from, an entire school district this year! I am impacting the world and inspiring soo many.
I can communicate my wants, needs, and feelings with ease and confidence. I am ready to take the leap into my amazing future!
I’ve created a lovely sanctuary in my new apartment with my roommate where I can grow, expand, play and manifest my most wonderful dreams for my career, family, love life, and future. I am making time for loads of yoga, walks and time to reflect and recharge. I am feeling so good in my body by attending 3 yoga classes a week!
I used the Laurie Berkner song & the sequence below in my "just walking to 2.5yrs" mini-me yoga class last Wednesday and it was awesome! Give it a try with your little ones, but show them the poses before you hand out the egg shakers or they won't pay attention to your directions!
Hand out "shakie" eggs (1-2 per kid)
Chicken Pose - chair pose with chicken wing arms
Laid an Egg - flap wings & wiggle bottom down to a squat
Egg Pose - squat in a ball, wrap arms around shins
Shake 'Em Fast - high-knees or jog. Shake the eggs like crazy!
Repeat chicken + egg poses.
Shake 'Em Slow - walking lunges or tip-toe. Shake eggs slow!
Repeat chicken + egg poses.
Shake in a Circle - star pose, keep arms extended as you hinge from the hips in a circular motion (circling up & down).
Shake Up & Down - butt kicks, move arms like your running. Shake eggs like crazy!
Repeat chicken + egg poses & at the end hold "egg" pose and then roll to your back for dead bug & shake your legs and arms (& eggs) out and then collapse to a resting pose (like savasana).
Be sure to make lots of chicken sounds during this song!
You can purchase similar egg shakers online. I like this brand of shaker eggs http://www.musiciansfriend.com/shakers-rattles/dunlop-2-pack-egg-shaker
